The Month of Pumpkins

I figured that I had better get the blog up to date on all things Halloween before today is over! We have had a busy month getting ready for the big night tonight. I have been busy in school which is why I guess I have just been letting the blog go. I am gonna have to work hard on changing that! Anyways...here are a few Halloween-related pictures to get it up to date. I am sure my parents and Seth' parents will be happy for something new to look at!

The girls in their cute pumpkin shirts

This one is funny because Jules is eating her first corn dog (or dog dog as she calls it). I just had to document such a momentous occasion!

More matchy Halloween

Summer and I headed to a costume party. Summer was flashdance and I was a cowboy...original I know. I threw the outfit together that day. Next year, I'm going ALL out!

Seth carving pumpkins with his girls. They were such prisses and wouldn't touch anything on the inside of that pumpkin! I love Seth's face here...saying EWWWWWWWWWWW with the girls!

Having a good time!

I asked Jillian what she wanted to name the pumpkin, and she said Emerson. Isn't she creative??? I think Emerson is a GREAT name for a pumpkin!

Jules at her Halloween Party at school. I was gone with the 3's to the pumpkin patch, so this was the only picture Sum could get for me! But I promise, she looked really cute that day!

Happy Halloween to everyone!!!!!

A Smokin Weekend...

This weekend, Seth and I went to South Texas for The Brazoria County Annual Fair and Cookoff. Seth's good friend Josh at work is the one that has gotten Seth really into grilling and smoking food this year. Seth has become really good at it and the whole family LOVES this hobby that he has picked up. Well, Josh decided to put a team together for the cookoff and so we joined that team (Lazy J's Cookers) and headed down a little past Houston for the weekend to participate. We had a lot of fun meeting new friends, sitting around outside, smoking food, having a couple drinks, and eating WAY too much meat!
(We also did this without our children....THANKS SO MUCH TO MY MOM AND DAD!!!!!!)
But the best part of the whole story is that only the top 12 teams place and are awarded a trophy. And...........Lazy J's got #12 out of 120 teams in brisket!!!! This is a very big deal around those parts and our boys were SOOOOO happy that the hard work paid off. And I must add that I think the brisket should have gotten first...it was truly amazing! What is funny is that so many older men have been participating in this competition for years, and these 4 young men show up for the first time and place! Us girls were very proud of our men!!!!

One of the greatest parts of the whole cookoff was seeing all of the CRAZY big and expensive smokers that people have out there! Also, I really enjoyed all the funny names of the teams. One of my favorites was "Kill It & Grill It". Ha HA...only in the South! I totally meant to take pictures of it all, but totally forgot. Next year I will be doing a whole blog post on those things!

Picnic With Daddy

Last Thursday at our school, we had Picnic With Daddy. All the Dads came up and got to eat Chick-Fil-A with their kiddos. The kids were all really excited about having their Daddy's up for lunch. Well, of course, it rained, so Picnic With Daddy was moved to the gym. But...our girls seemed to have the best time and were Super Excited that Daddy came up mid-day to see them at school!

I found my family in the back of the gym having this picnic...

The Princess Sleeps...

Just because you are sleeping, it is no excuse not to look your very best....

I would just like to list out what all Jillian has in her bed with her at that moment...Hello Kitty, American Girl Doll, Woody, Teddy Bear, Ballerina Doll, GloWorm, about 10 books, 2 puzzles, 1 Giant Magnadoodle, and various other crowns and wands. Can you imagine trying to sleep in all that stuff?

Movie Time and Some Good Ole Southern Cooking

Recently, Mimi and Papaw decided to take all the girls (minus Jules of course) to see Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. Aren't they brave? It was Jillian's very first movie to ever go to and they said she did great...besides not being able to hold her seat down. I don't remember ever being so light that I couldn't hold my movie seat down...ha! :) Anyway, I think they girls all had a great time getting popcorn and drinks and hanging out with such fun grandparents! Thanks for the treat Mimi and Papaw!

Everyone before the show. I LOVE the Jillian and Macy are holding hands.

4 girls piled into the car!

Then, later that night, Mimi decided to make a good ole southern dinner. Aunt K wanted to learn how to fry chicken...and so did I for that matter. I have never fried anything in my life, can you believe that? So, Mimi gave us Chicken Frying 101 that night. I brought some good mashed potatoes, Aunt K brought our favorite Birthday Dip, and Mimi and Papaw did the rest. We had fried chicken, homemade biscuits, squash, peas, green bean casserole, and homemade blackberry cobbler! It was absolutely delicious!
